Boyfriend Jeans and Men’s Ties – Borrowing from Your Guy’s Wardrobe for a Great Fashion Style
By Jackie Burns
If you’re going for the boyfriend jean look, why not expand by borrowing your guy’s ties as well? So what is the boyfriend jean look all about? Looking like you just raided your boyfriend’s closet and borrowed his jeans for yourself. This means wearing jeans which have the appearance of looking too big on you but that you have modified to work for your body type. You cinch the waist and roll up the pant legs. Currently skinny ties are very popular and men have copied what they have seen in magazine ads and in the press, by wearing them for business and in casual settings. They combine them with their jeans when going out at night. Why not borrow from this fashion trend and try thin ties, too? They are multipurpose since you can wear them as intended or use them for belts. And they look great on gals as they do on slimmer men and men of smaller stature. Vintage skinny ties work even better since they tend to be shorter than today’s ties and won’t hang too low. Regular width ties will work fine, too. Novelty ties add a touch of whimsy and let people know about your interests. You can pair up a Mickey Mouse tie with your Mickey Mouse watch, for example. Novelty neckties were popular way back when, starting in the 1940’s, and vintage neckwear will offer a one-of-a-kind look your girlfriends can’t readily copy. And, as with vintage skinny ties, they were made shorter, so they may fit better as well.
