Countess Mara Neckties & Randa Accessories: Understanding What It Means to Be a Gentleman

When it comes to marketing men’s neckties, sometimes it is good to know the history behind their manufacture. This is what Randa Accessories has done, now that it holds the license to make and sell Countess Mara ties. The company has two sites, neither of which you can actually purchase the ties from, but they make a good case for you to go to participating department stores which do carry them. One site is CountessMara.com, and it promotes the idea that one appears as and therefore is a gentleman when wearing this line of neckwear. One of their printed ads in the New York Times stated “Clothes make the man. Countess Mara makes the gentleman”. The Company retains a sense of humor and pays attention to the time of year. For instance in the fall of 2008 they ran the following ad: “What are you going to be for Halloween? Be a gentleman”. The other site is SaveTheGentleman.com, which suggests that the gentleman is a dying breed and that at least when it comes to men’s neckties, Countess Mara is devoted to bringing out all the dignity and good behavior associated with men who act as gentlemen do. It is interesting to note that the woman who started the company in 1938 was very forward thinking for her time whereas Randa looks back to the social graces of gentlemen of times past. What the two do have in common is their desire to promote a high quality product which both looks and feels good.
